One of those little design details that can make a surprisingly big difference in your kitchen is how you handle the sockets. It might sound minor, but they can really impact the overall look.

For starters, try matching your socket/switch covers to your backsplash. If your backsplash is a beautiful tile or a bold colour, a standard white outlet can stick out like a sore thumb. By blending the covers to match, they almost disappear, letting the backsplash shine as the feature.

Then there are under-cabinet sockets—brilliant if you want to keep your walls completely clean. Under-cabinet outlets give you easy access without breaking up your backsplash at all. However, if they are on show, make sure they blend in with the cabinetry, or even have a socket drawer! This is a great idea and where all appliances can be stored while charging or overnight.
